Epic Games has revealed another free cosmetic giveaway in Fortnite, and this one will reward you for attending an event. If you’re planning to attend the season-ending live event on Friday, you may be able to walk away with two free cosmetics, including the Bark Voyager Sidekick.
The best part is that you don’t need to complete challenges, earn XP, or grind quests. Instead, all you need to do is show up for the Shattered event in Fortnite. However, if you want every available reward, you’ll need to make sure you bring a friend with you.
How to get the Bark Voyager Sidekick for free in Fortnite
To unlock the Bark Voyager Sidekick, you need to attend the Shattered event with at least one friend in your party. As long as you join the event with one or more friends, everyone in your party will receive the reward.
If you attend the event solo, you won’t be completely left out. Epic has confirmed that you’ll still receive the Chaos Cutlasses pickaxe simply for participating in the event. Whether you join alone or with a group, the pickaxe will be awarded to all eligible Fortnite players. Unfortunately, the Sidekick is exclusive to those who watch the event with their friends.
There is one important detail you should keep in mind before the event begins. The rewards won’t be added to your account immediately after the Shattered event ends. Instead, Epic says that both cosmetics will appear in your Locker after the next Fortnite Battle Royale season goes live, which should be Saturday morning. Because of this, you may need to wait a little while before seeing the rewards in-game.
If you cannot find the Bark Voyager Sidekick in your Fortnite locker, do not worry. The free reward will be added to your account as long as you’ve met the requirements during the event.
If your goal is to collect both cosmetics, make sure you party up with at least one friend before entering the event. Doing so will secure the Bark Voyager Sidekick while also making you eligible for the Chaos Cutlasses pickaxe. If you join alone, you’ll only receive the pickaxe reward.
In case you have no friends to join you, you can create a new account and invite it to your lobby with a second device. Fortnite has returned to mobile devices, and you have plenty of time to download it before the event begins.
