A surprising Fortnite feature has players digging through years of old cosmetics after an unexpected refund option began appearing on select items. The “return without a ticket” feature allows certain cosmetics to be refunded for their full V-Bucks value without consuming one of Epic Games’ limited refund tickets.
The discovery quickly spread through the Fortnite community shortly after the launch of Chapter 7 Season 3, as players reported receiving thousands of V-Bucks from items they purchased years ago. Some users claimed they were able to recover more than 10,000 V-Bucks, while others reported totals as high as 18,000 V-Bucks after refunding multiple cosmetics from their lockers.
Fortnite players are finding refunds on old cosmetics
According to reports shared across social media, the refund option appears on a variety of older Fortnite cosmetics. Several players have posted screenshots showing the feature on Superhero outfits released in 2021, the Dragacorn glider, and numerous emotes that have been sitting in lockers for years.

Unlike Fortnite’s standard refund system, these returns do not appear to require a refund ticket and still grant the item’s full original V-Bucks value. Due to this, many players initially believed that this was a bug. However, that is not the case, as confirmed by Hogman, Fortnite’s community manager.
Interestingly, the feature does not appear to be available for everyone. Some users can refund multiple items, while others report seeing no eligible cosmetics at all. The exact cause remains unclear, but it may be tied to a major update that brought the new Fortnite season.
What makes the situation particularly notable is the amount of V-Bucks some players have reportedly recovered. Fortnite rarely offers large-scale refund opportunities outside of legal settlements or major cosmetic changes, making the sudden appearance of unrestricted refunds highly unusual.
