Epic Games has finally revealed the start date for Fortnite’s next summer event, and players won’t have to wait much longer. The event, called Gone Wild, kicks off on June 25 and will bring summer-themed gameplay changes to the island. The developer also confirmed that players can expect golden fishing spots, blazing campfires, the Firework Flaregun in the loot pool, and more.
While this already sounds like a fun mid-season refresh, the biggest question is what else Epic has planned. More importantly, many Fortnite players are wondering about the free event rewards that will come this week.
Fortnite’s summer event could bring free skins and cosmetics
At the moment, Epic Games hasn’t confirmed any free Gone Wild rewards. However, Fortnite summer events have almost always included cosmetics that players could unlock by completing quests, so there is a good chance that this year’s event will follow the same pattern.
Previous summer events rewarded players with wraps, back blings, gliders, emotes, loading screens, and other smaller cosmetics. Summer Escape, No Sweat Summer, Cosmic Summer, and All Sweat Summer all included limited-time quests with free items, and some of them also brought unique gameplay challenges.
A free skin would be the biggest possible reward, especially since Fortnite has been much more generous with free skins lately. However, if Epic sticks to the usual summer formula, the main rewards will likely be smaller cosmetics instead, such as emotes, pickaxes, and other accessories that can be unlocked through a special questline.
The summer event will bring gameplay changes to Fortnite, and Epic has already revealed some of them. As soon as the event begins, the developer will release a couple of new Sprites that will be available on June 25. Furthermore, the event may bring back some of the older limited-time game modes.
Gone Wild starts on June 25, and more information will likely be shared shortly before the event goes live. For now, it seems that Epic is gearing up for another big event before going on a summer break.
While waiting for the event, players can still unlock several free Fortnite skins and even a free car. On top of this, players can use some of the best Fortnite XP maps to level up quickly and unlock more cosmetics from the Battle Pass.
