While there have been games with their own original Bonds in the past, 007 First Light features a fully motion-captured take on the character performed by Dexter: Original Sin actor Patrick Gibson.

As IO Interactive aims for its take on the series to provide a new take on the character as a naive, early version of the gentleman spy, the studio has also claimed that they want to make more games with Gibson as Bond. While sequels are not guaranteed at this time, the studio does want to make more entries in the James Bond franchise alongside additional Hitman games

In an interview with the Radio Times, Gibson’s 007 First Light co-star, Lennie James, who plays Bond’s mentor John Greenway, expressed a desire for Gibson to play James Bond in live action.

“He’s fantastic in our version of Bond, and I genuinely think he should be a candidate for the main role that they’re trying to find someone for,” he said. “I mean, I’m sure he’s under consideration.”

Greenway claimed that those in charge of discovering the next live-action Bond “would be mad not to consider him” for the role. While the actor plays a younger, more morally innocent version of the character in the video game, he could also play a more refined version of the character in movie-form.

“I think it’s entirely possible [for that to happen],” the actor continued, “and that would be my hope”. Obviously, right now, it’s unknown how far along the process Amazon/MGM is to finding their next incarnation of the gentleman spy.

While IO Interactive has yet to fully detail its post-launch plans, the game is expected to receive additional missions after release in the same vein as Hitman: World of Assassination.

007 First Light is scheduled to launch on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC next month. The game is also set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, but that version of the game has been delayed to sometime later this year.
