There’s a glimmer in Capcom’s eyes, it seems, as the company that loves to port anything and everything is reportedly getting ready to bring the modern Resident Evil series to Nintendo Switch 2.
As Capcom continues development on the upcoming Resident Evil 9: Requiem, the studio is planning to bring every mainline game in the series to Nintendo’s latest handheld.
Dusk Golem, who has a solid track record when it comes to Resident Evil and Silent Hill leaks, claimed that Capcom is working on ports of the series to give players local versions of games that were only possible via cloud streaming on the original Switch.
The leaker explained that “all Resident Evil RE engine games are coming to Switch 2 as one might expect” which they “know for a fact”.
Dusk Golem explained that the new ports may coincide with native PS5 versions of games such as Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. As last-gen games, these new ports are expected to include modern features such as ray-tracing and higher performance targets
Additionally, recent rumours also claim that Resident Evil 9: Requiem is also proposed to come to Nintendo Switch 2. As a game designed around ray-traced lighting, many assumed it may be too big for the system. However, with Star Wars Outlaws bringing full ray-tracing to the console with solid performance, it actually seems possible.
The development that Capcom is planning to bring every Resident Evil game to the Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t really surprising. After all, the company tried bringing the games to the original via a rusty streaming solution that no one really enjoyed.
