Embark Games’ Arc Raiders is an incredibly popular multiplayer title that’s all about getting great loot, but what if there was more to do with that loot?

After explaining that the new extraction shooter isn’t really about PvP and shouldn’t add more PvP-centric features, Embark CEO Patrick Söderlund explained that the game should instead focus on expanding the trading element of the multiplayer game.

Speaking to GamesBeat, Söderlund explained that future updates for the extraction shooter should allow for player trading and other social-focused elements that increase the sense of community within the game. Right now, there’s no way of trading items you’ve found with friends other than bringing them with you into a shared match and dropping them, but that will change.

“We’re going to want to do more of that because it’s fun,” the CEO said. “It’s a good part of the game, and I agree with you, we should do more with the trading part of the game. Also, [we should] allow people to trade amongst each other, etc. I think it’s fun.”

The CEO said that the team “absolutely have to look at it long term”, focusing on features that will extend the community. However, Embark “haven’t decided on anything yet, but that’s the fun part of building something like this”.

“This is really the start of something, and there are so many things that we can look into adding to the game,” the CEO continued while also explaining that the list of things to add to the game is “constantly changing as we monitor how people play the game, what they like, what they don’t like, what they’re doing, [and] what they’re not doing.”

“We have to change it as we go,” Söderlund It’s fun, for me it’s a fun part of building games today, because we can build them this way, they’re different from what they were before. You can build them out and have them live for a long time. I, for one, want to spend more time in this universe and get to know Arcs and why they are there.”

Without a 2026 roadmap, we have no idea what major features Embark Studios is planning for the next year of its popular extraction shooter. However, with a new toxic map condition on the way as well as confirmed nerfs to a number of weapons, it’s clear that the studio does still have something cooking behind-the-scenes.
