Arc Raiders developer Embark Studios has just released a major patch for the extremely popular extraction shooter. The new Arc Raiders 1.4.0 Patch Notes reveal a host of changes that have been made to the game, including a number of major bugs that have now been squashed.

While not as dense as other gamesโ€™ patch notes, the new update makes a number of major fixes to the game to remove some of its major exploits. With millions of players all jumping into the game every day, Embark is working to keep the game as fair as possible.

One of the main focuses of the new patch is fixing the โ€œquick useโ€ gun exploit that allowed some players to shoot faster than intended. Prior to the patch, players would shoot a gun until its reload animation kicked in, then quickly press the quick use button before pressing a button to bring their weapon back out.

This exploit allowed players to kick back into the firefight with a new round in the chamber immediately, and made gunfights massively unfair against those who didnโ€™t know the exploit. The exploit was mostly used with El Toro shotgun builds, allowing players to rapidly pump high-damage rounds into players with ease.

Thankfully, the exploit has now been fixed, but Embark Studios has also fixed a number of other issues with the game. One major focus of the patch is the addition of โ€œexploit mitigatio mechanismsโ€ for โ€œall locked rooms across all mapsโ€.

In earlier versions of the game, players found ways of glitching into locked rooms without the use of keys. This would usually involve placing quick-use items on top of a doorโ€™s lock which, when triggered, would push players through into the locked room to grab all of its loot without using a key.

As of the Arc Raiders 1.4.0 patch notes, Embark has now added a mechanism that will set a locked room on fire if players enter it without using a key. Some players have already found this out the hard way with players trying to use the exploit immediately combusting upon entering.

As for the rest of the Arc Raiders 1.4.0 update, they are as follows:

  • The exterior access to Spaceport’s Control Tower locked room has been blocked off.
  • Fixed the issue that sometimes caused low-resolution textures in the Main Menu.
  • Fixed players being able to push each other by jumping on each otherโ€™s backs.
  • Fixed lighting artifacts that would sometimes occur upon entering maps.
  • Raider Voice now correctly respects the selected voice option after restarting the game.
