Deus Ex isn’t getting a new game because its owners are “psychopaths”, says series’ lead voice actor

Another year gone, another long wait for a Deus Ex game that will never come. While Aspyr Media is still working on the controversial Deus Ex Remastered, there’s currently no plans for a new game in the series.

Confirmed by voice actor Elias Toufexis, who played the iconic protagonist Adam Jensen in Human Revolution and Mankind Divided, there will not be a new Deus Ex game anytime during 2026.

In a thread on Twitter, Toufexis shared a post of his upcoming projects throughout 2026. Alongside Bungie’s Marathon, which launches in March, Toufexis shared three NDA icons to show his still unannounced projects. This led to some fans speculating over a new game in the Deus Ex series which Toufexis immediately rebuked.

“No Deus Ex because the people in charge are psychopaths,” the voice actor retorted on social media.

A new Deus Ex game was in development at developer Eidos Montreal between 2022 and 2024, but was cancelled by publisher Embracer Group. Unfortunately, that title seemingly did not feature the character of Adam Jensen.

In a post on Reddit back in 2024, Toufexis explained that they were not approached to return to the series, and that Adam Jensen’s story was seemingly “done”.

“As you guys all know, Jensen is one of the characters I’ve played who is near and dear to my heart. It seems I will always be associated with him and that’s just fine with me,” the actor said.

“Alas, his story seems done. I’m relatively certain the game that was canceled was not an Adam Jensen story, so the cancellation angers me more than anything else because friends at Eidos got laid off. Videogame companies right now are in a weird place. I hope it gets straightened out.”

The last new Deus Ex game to release was 2016’s Mankind Divided, a game which was famously cut in half before release. Ending on a cliffhanger, it seems that fans will never get to experience the second half of Jensen’s story.
