Bethesda Game Studios’ brilliant The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is coming to Nintendo Switch 2.
Confirmed alongside the Fallout 4 Nintendo Switch 2 release date– in the most recent Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, the recent Unreal Engine 5-powered version of Bethesda’s 2006 open-world RPG is coming to Nintendo’s latest handheld.
While obviously cut back from the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 versions of the game, as well as the even fancier PC version, all of the Elder Scrolls game will be playable on the handheld, including its Shivering Isles expansion.
It’s worth noting that Oblivion Remastered was criticised after launch for its uneven performance and noticeable bugs. However, these performance issues typically occurred between 30 and 60fps. From what we can see, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game is locked to 30fps, but it may still have some performance issues.
No specific release date was given for the new port of Bethesda’s killer RPG, but it will launch sometime later this year. Unfortunately, there was no announcement of a Starfield port which leaked alongside a PS5 version of the game prior to the Direct.
Considering the fact that Oblivion Remastered is making its way to the new Nintendo handheld, that likely means that the often-leaked Fallout 3 Remastered will also be coming to the system. While not officially confirmed by Bethesda, the Unreal Engine 5-powered remaster of the 2008 FPSRPG will be possible on the handheld.
