Getting free skins in Fortnite might sound too good to be true, but there are plenty of legitimate ways to score exclusive outfits without spending V-Bucks. From in-game events and promotional offers to limited-time quests and the Battle Pass, you can unlock stylish cosmetics while keeping your wallet intact.
In December 2025, you can unlock three Fortnite skins for free. However, it’s important to note that one of them will expire soon. Once it leaves, it may be re-released in the Item Shop, but it certainly won’t be free. Due to this, you should unlock it as soon as possible!
Are there any free skins in Fortnite?
In Fortnite Chapter 7 – Season 1, four skins are available for free. All of these skins are available on every supported device, so you can unlock them whether you play on PC, console, or mobile.
Here is a quick recap of all the available skins you can currently unlock for free.
| Skin | Expiry date |
|---|---|
| Felinos | March 4, 2026 |
| Explorer Emilie | N/A |
| Trailblazer Tai | N/A |
| Mr. Dappermint | N/A |
Now, let’s check how to unlock all of them.
Felinos

To unlock the Felinos skin for free in Fortnite, you need to complete a couple of in-game quests. These quests are available in the Ranked mode, and you have an entire season to complete them.
The process of unlocking is simple, yet time-consuming. To unlock Felinos, you will need to eliminate 150 players, place in the top 10 25 times, and you’ll also have to eliminate three players while finishing among the top 10 players 10 times.
Explorer Emilie & Mr. Dappermint

Explorer Emilie and Mr. Dappermint can both be unlocked at the same time. Just like the Stormtrooper skin above, unlocking these skins requires you to link accounts. This time, however, you need to link your Epic Games and LEGO Insider accounts. As soon as you do this, both of the free skins will be added to your Fortnite locker.
To link accounts, follow these steps:
- Log in to your Epic Games account
- Go to Epic Account Settings
- Choose Apps & Accounts from the menu
- Click on Connect under the LEGO Account
- Allow the link between accounts
Once you’ve finished the last step, both Mr. Dappermint and Explorer Emilie will be added to your Fortnite account. These skins have no expiry date.
Traiblazer Tai

Out of all the free Fortnite skins on this list, unlocking Trailblazer Tai takes the most time. To get this skin, you first need to get the True Explorers Quest Pack from the Item Shop. The pack is free and contains quests for the skin and the back bling. More specifically, you need to finish the following tasks to unlock the items:
- Enter a Survival world in LEGO Fortnite
- Invite an NPC to live in any village
- Craft a Shortsword
- Build a Spinning Wheel
- Hit and deal damage with a Recurve Crossbow
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to build a Spinning Wheel or craft a Recurve Crossbow right away. Before you can do so, you will need to upgrade your village several times and collect the necessary materials. Fortunately, Trailblazer Tai doesn’t have an expiry date either, so you have plenty of time to add this free skin to your Fortnite account.
