Marvel Rivas has a massive 2026 ahead of it with developer NetEase planning even bigger updates for the game. While players are currently enjoying the game’s new hero Deadpool, they’re still coming up against cosmetic farmers that spend all day doing absolutely nothing.
In Marvel Rivals, cosmetic farmers simply join matches and spend their time standing still to farm cosmetics locked behind hero proficiency. As player counts spike following the game’s latest update, a new system is being introduced to tackle cosmetic farmers.
Announced in a recent statement, Marvel Rivals is introducing a new “combat behaviour detection system” that will detect players that are farming stats in matches, kick them, and flag their accounts for poor behaviour.
“Recently, we’ve noticed that some players are exploiting matches by remaining stationary and repeatedly farming stats to gain hero proficiency points,” the developers said. “This behaviour disrupts normal gameplay and seriously affects the match experience of other players.”
Players who are found to be engaging in cosmetic farming “may face penalties”, the developer confirmed. These penalties include, but are not limited to, “warnings, short-term suspensions, long-term suspensions, or permanent account bans.”
NetEase explains that this system will help the studio to “maintain a fair and healthy game environment” as it continues to expand into the future. While some changes to Rivals have been largely criticised, the fanbase has reacted positively to the new detection system.
“Thank you for this. “I hate lord farming lobbies so much… people make this game unbearable,” one player said. However, some players have called for NetEase to lower the requirements to farm Lords to eliminate the problem altogether.
Additionally, players have called for NetEase to tackle players who are purposefully throwing games within the hero shooter. Alongside the issue with AFK players, many Rivals players have found players who simply throw games away mid-match to be a major issue with the game.
