Build A Rocket Boyโs infamously horrendous open-world sci-fi game MindsEye was one of the worst games of 2025, so much so that it convinced lead actor Alex Hernandez he was cursed. However, despite player counts in the single digits, the studio has not given up on the project.
Alongside continued patchesโthe last of which was released on December 18, 2025, Build A Rocket Boy is seemingly still sponsoring content creators to promote the games half-a-year after the gameโs high-profile commercial and critical failure.
Much to the surprise of everyone, popular streamer and YouTuber Criken was recently sponsored to play MindsEye to their sizeable online audience. The content creator recently streamed the game last month to their Twitch audience of 362,000 followers, succeeded by a YouTube video posted to their Criken2 channel with over 1 million subscribers.
The YouTube videos descriptionโas well as the end of the videoโdeclares itโs โSponsored by MindsEyeโ, and includes a link to buy the game on Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox. At the time of writing, the game is still being sold for its full retail price of ยฃ54.99 without any discounts.
The recent sponsorship has stumped the content creatorโs fanbase. โI can’t believe this is real. Imagine getting a Concord sponsorship, this is history we are witnessing live rn [right now],โ one comment reads. โOh I thought you were playing this because it’s basically a meme at this point, I can’t believe they’re still sponsoring people,โ reads another.
One comment called the MindsEye sponsorship a โMorbius tier sponsorโ, referring to Sonyโs horrendous Spider-Man spin-off movie that bombed in two separate cinema runs.
It could even be said that the gameโs sponsorship has worked, barely. In the days since Crikenโs YouTube video, MindsEye has seen a spike in player counts, going from a peak of 14 players on Steam on the day of publication to a recent high of 35 players on January 17th. The gameโs all-time peak sits at just 1,393 players.

While MindsEye has been steadily improving, Build A Rocket Boy is doing so with a skeleton crew following mass layoffs following the gameโs release. After release, over 250 developers were fired from the studio with 90 developers launching legal action over the studioโs poor management, poor working conditions, and allegedly illegal layoffs processes.
Nevertheless, whereas Sony killed and refunded its multi-hundred million dollar multiplayer game Concord after just two weeks on sale, it is at least ambitious to see some level of care pointed towards a seemingly cursed project like MindsEye.
