Arc Raiders devs criticise dupe exploiters as dirty cheaters make “both gameplay and the economy suffer”

Embark Studios’ Arc Raiders is one of the most popular multiplayer games around with over 12 million players and 6 million monthly users. As a result, the game has suffered from a large cheating popular, although Embark has enforced some very strong anti-cheat measures to try and stop them out.

Since launch, players have forced their way through locked doors and even used third-party filters to gain an advantage during gameplay. However, one of the most devastating exploits right now is the presence of item duplication glitches that are breaking the game’s economy.

While the exploit is mostly fixed right now, the duplication glitch allowed Arc Raiders players to multiple any loot of their choice by a maximum of 22 times. In a recent discussion with the community, the developers admitted that the “exploits stemmed from a design flaw on our part”, but also criticised cheaters for exploiting and breaking the game’s economy.

“The way they were used had a real impact on the game’s economy and the way the community experienced Arc Raiders,” the developers said, likely referring to the horrendous presence of duped high-tier items that caused many cheaters to simply gun down players as they were no longer afraid of losing anything.

Additionally, Embark confirmed that players who did engage with the duplication glitches will be punished as the team “will begin issuing enforcement actions to accounts that we can confirm took advantage of these exploits”. Users that majorly exploited the duplication glitches will see removal of coins, and even suspensions.

“We take this incident seriously, and we’re approaching it as both a corrective effort and a learning opportunity to strengthen the systems that support fair play,” Embark studios said. “We’ll keep monitoring for confirmed exploits and will take action appropriately, fairly and consistently.”

Arc Raiders’ next major update, Shrouded Sky, is scheduled to launch later this month with even more content for players to engage with.
