Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t short of mods. In fact, since Larian Studios unveiled the game more than two years ago, hundreds of mods are readily available for both console and PC players. While some tackle costumes, abilities and even add new adventures, one of the newer additions restores and reveals a significant amount of ‘hidden dialogue’ that didn’t make the final cut.
Thanks to the Lesser Restoration mod, which can be snapped up now on Nexus Mods, modder HyperspaceTowel claims to address and sort a number of bugs and glitches that Larian hasn’t got round to fixing yet. As part of these fixes, more than 70 party banters have been added – spontaneous interactions that happen between your companion characters when not in direct dialogue – that never made the final game.
These appear throughout the game, all the way up to the Endgame – so if you’re itching for yet another playthrough of Larian’s classic (as if you needed another excuse), then this is it.
As an example, in Act 1, all of the companions will now react to Origin Gale eating his first magical item. In the vanilla game, everyone else stops caring after the first person reacts. Another example, later in the game, is that companions will now react to you flirting with Wyll at the tiefling party. Elsewhere, companions will no longer shame you for selling Shadowheart out to Viconia if she’s dead or not recruited. It’s not known whether these interactions were meant to be left out or were just forgotten to be ‘put live’.
There have also been slight adjustments made. For example, the dialogue has been rearranged to maximise companion reactivity to your character jumping into the hole at Moonrise. Other smaller bugs, such as one that prevented Shadowheart from donating memories to the Mirror of Loss in Act 3 have also been fixed.
It’s worth noting that while the mod can be uninstalled mid-playthrough ‘certain changes will persist even if the mod is removed’ the modder warns. It’s also only compatible with Patch 8 and 7, so those running on Patch 6 will not be able to use it.
