The Resident Evil franchise is storming onto Nintendo Switch 2 next month. Alongside the brand-new Resident Evil Requiem, which is launching day-and-date on Switch 2 as on other platforms, RE7 and RE8: Village are also releasing on the system.
As many expected, Capcom is far from done with ports to the Nintendo Switch 2 with more Resident Evil titles reportedly set to launch on the system later this year. According to renowned leaker Nate the Hate, who also revealed plans for a Clair Obscur Switch 2 port, remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 are all set to launch on Nintendo’s new handheld.
Included in an extensive video on Nintendo Switch 2 predictions and teases for 2026, the leaker claimed that Capcom will bring the three remake games to the platform. This comes alongside claims by the leaker that Capcom is also working on a remake of Code Veronica, which could also launch on Nintendo Switch 2.
“We should see Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 come to Switch 2 some time in 2026,” the leaker said. “And those types of late ports, I think, make a lot of sense. They’re very well respected games, received high acclaim, fantastic releases, and the suit the handheld mode of the Switch 2 very well.”
The leaker also claimed that the remake ports will have “parity in terms of features” compared to their PS5 and Xbox Series counterparts. This means that the games will have the option to turn-on ray-tracing as well as an option to run at higher framerates if the system is capable.
While ray-tracing isn’t prominent on the Nintendo Switch 2, the system has been proven to handle ray-tracing intensive games with the release of Star Wars Outlaws. With that said, Resident Evil Requiem, Capcom’s upcoming release, does appear to strip out ray-tracing features on the handheld.
Nate the Hate did not state whether or not these games would be present in the upcoming Nintendo Direct, which is reportedly slated for early February. However, considering that Direct will likely be promoting the upcoming Resident Evil games, it may be best to include only a tease of future ports to avoid confusion.
Capcom’s support of the Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t just tied to its work on the Resident Evil series. The company is also bringing its intensive action game Pragmata to the system on release day as well as the upcoming exclusive Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. While the company was already an avid supporter of the previous handheld, when possible, support is rabid for the Switch 2.
