Gameplay: A Multi-Genre Open World
Crimson Desert is built on Pearl Abyss’s proprietary BlackSpace Engine, which facilitates a level of world interaction rarely seen in the genre. Combat is its crown jewel, mixing genres like traditional hack-and-slash with pro-wrestling manoeuvres and environment-based kills. You can tackle enemies on horseback, use a Zelda-style glider to soar from mountain peaks, or even hijack a dragon to establish aerial superiority.
Beyond the blades, the world of Pywel is reactive. The game features a complex economy and banking system, as well as survival elements like fishing and cooking. One of the most unique additions is the Abyss, a parallel dimension where Kliff must solve intricate, physics-based puzzles to gain new abilities. The goal isn’t just to level up, but also to utilize the "rules" of the world to overcome its massive, Dragon's Dogma-esque bosses.
