Warner Bros’ next DC video game is the fantastic-looking LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, a new game that takes players through the Caped Crusader’s legacy of film in a surprise Arkham-style LEGO adventure.

But what of the new DCU? When James Gunn kicked off the new DC Cinematic Universe with Creature Commandos and Superman, the white-haired director also promised that the characters we see in TV and film would also appear in video games.

While there are rumours of a competitor to Marvel Rivals, co-CEO of DC Studios James Gunn has teased a major push for video games that tie into his new universe. Following the cancellation of Monolith’s Wonder Woman title, Gunn has promised that games are on the way, but they take time.

Speaking to GamesRadar ahead of the release of Peacemaker Season 2, Gunn explained that there has “been some slight movement on different things”, and video games are still in the works.

“We have a couple of little DC games coming out,” he said. “But we also have talked about – and in early stages of planning – some bigger things. One thing in particular I’m excited about, but it does take time.”

Gunn also touched on the recent shakeups at Warner Bros. Games which resulted in the complete shutdown of legendary game developer Monolith, which created the No One Lives Forever, F.E.A.R. and the Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor games.

“There’s been some changes in Warner Bros. Games, and so we’re dealing with new people,” Gunn admitted.

Warner Bros Games has seen some major losses as of late with the re-launch of MultiVersus failing for a second time, Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League failing to capture an audience and lower-than-expected sales of Mortal Kombat 1.

Wanna get nuts? This gets nuts.

Nevertheless, DC Studios isn’t done with games, and it seems that James Gunn’s earlier push towards gaming as an inherent part of the new DCU is still the plan going forward. Additionally, DC has worked with Epic Games to secure crossovers in Fortnite, although that likely doesn’t count for its plans overall.
