Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen releases on October 26, 2026. Announced at the latest Nintendo Direct alongside Deltarune, Ocarina of Time Remake and more, the new expansion is a huge addition to the base game.
Coming alongside some major performance improvements and gameplay adjustments to the base game, Dark Arisen adds even more content to the sprawling open-world game. Players will be able to explore the snowy region of Norgan in a brand-new story as they battle new enemies with new weapons.
Following the same subtitle as the original game’s expansion, Dark Arisen is pitched as a massive expansion. In a statement to press, Capcom confirmed that the new expansion and base game improvements have been designed specifically to address fans’ issues with the original release.
In the press release, Capcom explained that the paid DLC is built “to offer greater accessibility and additional content, with the aim of delivering an experience that satisfies not only fans of the series, but also those playing Dragon’s Dogma for the first time.”
The DLC has been built “based on the wide range of feedback received following the release of the main game” back in March 2024. While it’s been a long time since the game’s March 2024 release, the Dragon’s Dogma team has been hard at work on major under-the-hood improvements to the game.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is often an incredible game, but it was a disappintment to many fans on launch. To this day, the base game still sits with a “mixed” review status on Steam, and even fans who love it (like I do) admit that it falls short of expectations.
However, these complaints are exactly what Capcom is aiming to address with not only the paid Dark Arisen expansion, but also a slew of updates coming to the game. Right now, Capcom has already introduced the first major update in the form of 3.1, which improves movement, options, and pawns.
The second update, 3.2, launches at the end of August and brings some much-needed performance improvements, save system overhauls, and more to the game. Finally, Dark Arisen launches on October 9, 2026.

As a huge fan of the original Dragon’s Dogma, I never even expected a sequel, but it’s good to see Capcom actually address the second game’s issues instead of leaving it to rot. While we don’t know if Dark Arisen will be any good, although I really hope it will be, it does look like a fantastic addition to a great-but-troubled game.
