Today’s Fortnite update brings a ton of new content, and the patch notes break down everything that arrived with it. The highlight of the update is a Valentine’s Day event that will run throughout the month. In addition, Epic Games has brought a couple of popular collaborations, including a new wave of KPop Demon Hunters.
Now, let’s get into the details and check Fortnite v39.40 patch notes.
What did today’s Fortnite update add?
The KPop Demon Hunters collaboration is one of the highlights of today’s Fortnite update. The first wave, released in October 2025, felt rushed because it included no significant emotes. However, the second wave is much better, bringing new cosmetics, including a couple of emotes.
Rumi, Zoey, and Mira are getting new styles, and Fortnite is also releasing Jinu, a new skin. All of these items will be available in the Item Shop, and Jinu will also be available through a cup on Friday, February 6. Players who rank high will be able to unlock him, alongside his back bling.
In addition to the skin, all the competitors who earn eight points will get an emoticon, while those who score 40 and 80 points will get another emoticon and a wrap, respectively.

Chappell Roan in Fortnite
Chappell Roan has also arrived with today’s Fortnite updates, and the patch notes reveal three skins for the artist. On top of this, Roan brings a new Music Pass, a new lobby for the Festival mode, and lots of new content. Two of her skins are available in the pass, while another one is in the Item Shop.
Considering that Chappell Roan is a new Fortnite Festival artist, we expect her skin to be in the shop for at least two months. Since the new Music Pass is set to end on April 16, this is likely when she will be vaulted.

New skins and cosmetics
In addition to KPop Demon Hunters and Chappell Roan, Fortnite has added more skins with the latest update. This includes a remixed version of Ice King, a popular character from Chapter 1 – Season 7. Ice King will have a live event in late February, and to celebrate it, Epic will release his new skin in the Item Shop.
The update also brings a couple of original skins that will be released over the next two weeks, as well as an adorable new Sidekick, which is perfect for Valentine’s Day.

Gameplay changes
Fortnite patch notes reveal the addition of a new item, the Flowberry Mist Grenade. This item obscures the player’s location while healing shields. Furthermore, anyone who enters the zone created by the grenade gets a low-gravity effect.
The update also brings balance changes, which were previously revealed by Epic. Now, Enforcer and Tactical assault rifles deal more damage, while all submachines were drastically buffed, having more damage and larger magazines. Tactical Pistol has also received a buff, alongside the Sovereign Shotgun.
Fortnite has finally added a Lock-On Assault Rifle, which was leaked shortly after the release of the current season. This is a specialized weapon that tracks enemies, similar to the Lock-On Pistol from Chapter 4.

Epic has added a lot of other content with today’s update, but not all of it will be available right away. The Marvel Rivals collaboration, which brings two skins, is currently encrypted, and is expected to come out within the next two weeks.
The update includes two additional encrypted sets, and one of them may include files for a season-ending live event. The release date of Fortnite Chapter 7 – Season 2 is set for early March, and Epic will release only one more update in the current season.
While playing the new update, don’t forget to unlock all the free Fortnite skins, as one of them will expire in the new season. If you need to catch up with the current Battle Pass and level up quickly, you can use one of the best XP maps in Fortnite.
