Since its 2017 launch, Fortnite has released thousands of skins. Some of these have become so rare that they have been vaulted for multiple chapters. In fact, the rarest Item Shop skin was last seen in 2018.

It seems that Epic Games has no rules when it comes to the rarity rules, as the rarest Fortnite skins of all time include several crossovers. The NFL skins, first released in 2018, are now among the rarest in the game, and Epic may have just teased their return.

Fortnite may soon bring back rare NFL skins

Back in Chapter 1, Epic Games collaborated with the NFL to bring new cosmetics to the battle royale game. In addition to the items, the collaboration also brought a map change, as Fortnite had a football stadium at Pleasant Park. Interestingly, the skins released at the time have become extremely rare.

The last time Fortnite released NFL skins was in February 2020. They haven’t returned in more than six years, although that may change soon.

Epic recently released a Take Me Thru Dere emote, using NFL skins to promote it. While it’s not unusual for the Fortnite creator to use older cosmetics in promotional material, the company almost never uses collaboration skins for these purposes, unless the collaborations are active. As a result, this could hint at a potential return of the ultra-rare NFL skins soon, possibly before the launch of Season 2.

Epic hasn’t officially confirmed the return of the NFL skins. However, considering how many rare cosmetics have been unvaulted over the past year, their comeback wouldn’t be surprising.
