Forza Horizon 6 fans believe that the next entry in Playground Games’ open-world racing series is finally taking the long-awaited to Japan. Following the series’ entries in Britain, Australia and Mexico, it seems that the next entry is actually going where fans have always wanted.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, which has been saved by fans, car import company Cult and Classic, showed a Japanese vehicle being scanned by a member of the Forza Horizon team for use in the series’ sixth entry.
In the post, the import company employee explained that Playground Games had travelled to the Australian company specifically to digitally scan Kei cars. Kei cars are Japanese lightweight vehicles that are compact, affordable and rarely seen outside of the country.
“Exciting news! We have Cody here, from @forzahorizonofficial, shooting cars for the next instalment in the series,” the post reads. “As there are no late-model Kei cars in America, he has flown out from the states to use our cars as the basis for their digital versions.”
“We are HUGE gamers here at Cult and Classic, and it is an honor to be supporting Forza and making Kei cards accessible virtually for people who can’t have them IRL,” the post continues.
Kei cars are specifically hard to find outside of Japan, although Australia’s close proximity to the region means that they are more prominent there than in the states. This doesn’t confirm the next game’s setting as Japan, but it is a strong indicator.
Even before Forza Horizon 6, Japan has long been a fan-requested location for the series. The region has always topped the list of requested locations for new entries due to the country’s car culture, long highways and drift-ready mountain roads.
Forza Horizon 6 is expected to release sometime during 2026, according to Xbox boss Phil Spencer. Developer Playground Games is also still working on its upcomign Fable reboot.
