Prepare your masks and sharpen your blades. Following the massive success of its 2025 launch, Sucker Punch Productions has officially confirmed that the multiplayer expansion Ghost of Yōtei: Legends will arrive as a free update. Legends is a full-scale supernatural reimagining of the Hokkaido frontier. While the base game followed Atsu’s grounded quest for vengeance, Legends goes deeper into the dark folklore of the “Yōtei Six,” transforming them into demonic entities that you and your friends must hunt down.
Ghost of Yotei Legends Release Date and Global Launch Times
Ghost of Yōtei: Legends launches as part of the Version 1.5 update on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Because this is a first-party Sony release, it follows a staggered rollout. US players will likely see the update go live on the evening of March 9 to align with the midnight Eastern Time launch.

Platforms and Access Details
The expansion is built exclusively for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. On the Pro model, players can expect "Legends Enhanced" features, providing a stable 60 FPS even when the screen is filled with supernatural particle effects and volcanic ash.
Unlike the first game's standalone release later in its life cycle, Yōtei: Legends is currently only accessible to those who own the base game. It will be a free download for all existing owners, though an active PlayStation Plus subscription is required for online play.
Gameplay Features: The New Classes and Combat
In Legends, you step away from Atsu to play as one of four specialized classes: the Samurai, Archer, Mercenary, or Shinobi. Each class brings a unique flavour to the battlefield. The combat itself is tighter and less forgiving than the original Tsushima: Legends. You'll need to get a grasp of the new "Weapon Counter System," as enemies in the spirit realm frequently use disarming attacks that can force you to drop your blade.
To even the odds, Sucker Punch has introduced Spirit Animals. Depending on your class and build, you can summon spectral wolves or bears to disrupt enemy formations or provide distractions while you revive a fallen teammate.
New Game Modes
The core of the experience is split between 2-player Story missions and 4-player Survival matches. The Story mode consists of 12 distinct chapters that retell the fall of the Yōtei Six through a mythological lens. Every three missions, your team will participate in an Incursion – a high-stakes stronghold raid that culminates in a boss fight against a "twisted" version of a main-game antagonist, such as the Spider or the Snake.
If you’re looking for a pure test of skill, the 4-player Survival mode returns with four new maps based on the Ezo wilderness. You'll defend territory against waves of Oni and fire-wielding lawless warriors. Sucker Punch has also teased a massive Raid coming shortly after launch (likely in April), which will feature the final confrontation with the demonic Lord Saito.
