UPDATE: Warhammer 40,000: Dawn fo War 4 has officially been announced, showing the return of the Blood Ravens and Orks as well as the long-awaited addition of Necrons. Shown during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, the RTS game is an incredibly detailed, unit-filled experience with base building and huge battles.

Launching with over 60 missions, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 will include four playable factions, including Adeptus Mechanicus, and will launch sometime during 2026 exclusively on PC. This is the first game in the series to not be made by Relic Entertainment, instead being made by Iron Harvest studio King Art Games.

Original Story: Following the release of Relic Entertainment’s Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Enhanced Edition, the long-awaited fourth entry in the RTS series has been leaked. Following years of wait and rumours, the Dawn of War 4 game is seemingly real.

Shared on Reddit ahead of its supposed announcement, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 keyart has been shared online from Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. Seemingly set for a reveal later tonight, the RTS game is a proper follow-up to the maligned third game in the series.

In the keyart for the fourth game in the RTS series, it seems that players will be able to control the usual Blood Ravens Space Marines unit as well as other factions. The typical Ork villains return, alongside two new units: the Adpetus Mechanicus and the teased Necrons from the ending of the third game.

Dawn of War 3 released back in 2017 to poor reception from fans despite fairly positive critic reviews. The game was lambasted for its brighter art style as well as being yet another massive change in game design compared to its predecessors, this time aiming for a more MOBA-style RTS. Nevertheless, the game does have a small subset of fans.

Nothing is known about the gameplay style of Dawn of War 4, although fans have hoped for a return to the slower, base-building tactics of the original game. Seeing as Relic Entertainment just recently released a solid remaster of the original game, it would make sense to follow that style for the next game.

At the time of writing, it’s also not known who is developing the next entry in the Warhammer 40,000 series. For my money, I hope Relic gets another stab at the series it created, especially considering the fact that some of the first game’s developers at still at the RTS studio.
