The latest Marvel Rivals update has introduced a new map, Lower Manhattan. The map, which was first seen in a gameplay reveal of White Fox, arrived on Thursday morning. It’s a Convergence map, which is a hybrid of Domination and Convoy, and features never-seen-before mechanics.
When playing in Lower Manhattan, players are essentially given temporary wall hacks. They can see through walls and easily spot their enemies, which gives a huge advantage to certain characters.
This mechanic is quite surprising and controversial, so it will be interesting to see if NetEase will change it in the near future.
New Marvel Rivals map features legal wall hacks
Using wall hacks in Marvel Rivals is normally a bannable offense that generally results in a permanent account loss. However, the newest map, Lower Manhattan, has legal wall hacks. Not only can players see their enemies through the walls, but they can also see important information about their ultimate abilities.
This is a fun feature, yet implementing it is a bold move on NetEase’s end. After all, Marvel Rivals is a competitive game, and it’s no surprise that the community is already split over the new map. While some players like the implementation of the new mechanics, others dislike it and don’t want the map to be featured in the ranked mode.
It’s important to note that the wall hacks are not active all the time. Instead, a map-wide scan occurs periodically, revealing all the players in its radius. When players are revealed, they get a “Scanned” message on their screens, and they can also see all the revealed enemies through walls. Besides the enemy outlines, the scan reveals exact ultimate charge percentages, which is a game-changer.
This feature has never been seen in the game before, but we will see if NetEase will adjust it soon. The map has only been out for a few hours, so the game developer will likely give players more time to get used to it.
In the meantime, NetEase has already hinted at a new Season 8 hero and confirmed Black Cat’s release date. Marvel Rivals is currently in the midst of a limited-time event that brings free Units and cosmetics.
