Marvel Rivals Season 7 came out recently, bringing White Fox, a new Strategist. While players are still learning how to use the new hero, NetEase is already preparing new content. With the first update of the current season, the Marvel Rivals developer may have already revealed a new hero coming with Season 8.
Season 8 of Marvel Rivals is set to begin on May 15, making the current season the shortest one. It appears that the development team has prepared many surprises, and one of them could be Mystique, a fan-favorite Marvel character.
Will Marvel Rivals add Mystique as a new hero?
As many players already know, NetEase loves teasing new heroes with gallery cards. This is how we found out about the last six heroes, including White Fox and Black Cat. Now, another mysterious figure has appeared in a gallery card, and there is a good chance that it’s Mystique.
Miller Ross, a popular Marvel Rivals insider, shared a gallery card on his X profile shortly after the new season came out. Ross initially described the figure as eerily similar to Jean Grey before clarifying she’s closer to Rogue. This detail strongly points toward Mystique, a shapeshifter.
Mystique is the adoptive mother of Rogue in Marvel comics, and both are mutants. Rogue was raised by Mystique and initially aligned with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants before later joining the X-Men.
Like Deadpool, Mystique could be a hybrid hero in Marvel Rivals. If Mystique is added, she could introduce unique mechanics to the hero shooter, such as disguising herself as enemy heroes and copying their abilities, similar to Loki. Mystique’s addition would also expand the mutant storyline in Marvel Rivals.
NetEase has not officially confirmed Mystique, and some gallery cards have been used to misdirect players or tease NPCs and seasonal villains. Due to this, we will have to wait for a while longer to get the official confirmation.
