A Twin Peaks video game is seemingly in development, according to new data from an ongoing Steam leak.
The Steam leak, which has revealed the full Kingdom Hearts 4 world list and details surrounding other titles, has also revealed a few unannounced games. For example, a remaster of Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright and an upcoming Animal Crossing clone featuring Nickelodeon characters.
Amongst the crowd of hot releases, one achievement listing seemingly points towards a Twin Peaks video game. At the time of writing, only two achievements are visible, and there’s sadly no title for the game, only a SteamID number of 3886550.
One of the achievements is a test achievement, signalling that the game is far from ready for release. Test achievements are usually in place to, well, test achievement functionality as a whole. For example, Kingdom Hearts 4, which doesn’t release until Fall 2027, has a mostly complete list of achievements already.
The second achievement in the list is dubbed Welcome to Twin Peaks, and is our only hint that this is, in fact, some form of Twin Peaks game. For players to unlock the achievement, they simply have to arrive at the Double R Diner, the iconic location from David Lynch and Mark Frost’s beloved TV show.
Unfortunately, that’s all the information available on the game. There’s no official game name, no screenshots, and not even a name of a developer or publisher. Furthermore, it’s not even known if this game is still in active development.
With that said, this would mark the first Twin Peaks video game since 2019’s Twin Peaks VR, which did not feature the Double R Diner. That cheap and cheerful VR game, which was overseen by the late David Lynch, was more of a VR experiment than a video game.
Of course, Twin Peaks itself has influenced and inspired many video games over its time, including Silent Hill. However, it’s never had a true video game of its own, at least not in any official capacity, and some fans (me, I’m the fans) would like to see the series in video game form at some point.
As for what the game could be, well, that’s unknown. However, as a fan, it could be interesting to have a game set during Cooper’s disappearance after the end of Season 2, allowing fans to interact with the show’s characters during the dark ages of the show. How does Cooper’s departure effect the town? How’s Annie? Now, that could be fun to explore.
