Jetpack Cat is one of the newest Overwatch heroes, as Fika joined the lineup with a major Season 1 update. The support hero has gotten a lot of attention in the first two weeks of the season, though not all of it has been positive. Fika is considered quite overpowered at the moment, which is why Blizzard has confirmed an upcoming nerf for her.

The first batch of Season 1 balance changes reduced the regeneration rate of Frenetic Flight from 30 to 25. The next update will reduce the effectiveness of Fika’s perks, Claws out and Territorial.

Jetpack Cat is getting a significant nerf in Overwatch

While Fika is arguably the most adorable hero in Overwatch, she has proven difficult to counter in early Season 1 matches. It appears that Blizzard made the cat much stronger than originally intended, which is why the upcoming update will bring a nerf. This information comes from Alec Dawson, Overwatch’s associate game director.

While Dawson hasn’t revealed all the details about the nerf, it will affect Jetpack Cat’s perks, Claws Out and Territorial. Both of these perks will likely receive a damage reduction, with Territorial set to be removed in a future mid-season patch.

The release date of the mid-season patch is currently unknown, but we expect it to come out in March. Blizzard may replace Territorial with another perk, as Jetpack Cat could struggle to maintain her current impact without it. Considering how dominant she has been in early Season 1 matches, these changes could significantly shift the support meta.
