Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone first released Stardew Valley almost a decade ago, and the cutesy farming game has been blessed with a large number of substantial updates.
In a recent interview, the indie developer confirmed there will be no more updates for Stardew Valley until the release of his next game Haunted Chocolatier. As it turns out, there is another update.
Speaking at the Stardew Valley Symphony of Seasons concert, the indie game creator told fans that a new update for the game is in the works. While there’s no confirmation of when the update will be released or how big the update will be, it is indeed coming.
“After the [last] update, I was thinking ‘I dunno if I’m gonna make another update’”, the developer said on stage. “But, I wanted to share something with you tonight, it’s kind of a secret… there’s gonna be another update.”
Barone’s comment was immediately met with very loud, excited cheers and applause from the audience of the Stardew Valley concert. No other information about the update was confirmed.
Alongside the upcoming update, whenever that launches, new Stardew Valley content is also being released in the form of a free Infinity Nikki crossover event. While initially controversial, the new event will add a few cosmetics based on the farming game as well as a limited-time story to the open world dress-up game.
Of course, ConcernedApe is also working on Haunted Chocolatier, a new “chocolatier simulation” game that will be Stardew’s successor. Not much is known about the game, but it will be more action-focused and will have fishing. Oh, and you’ll be making chocolate.
