CD Projekt Red and WeirdCo’s Cyberpunk 2077 Trading Card Game has already decimated Kickstarter records to become the most-funded TCG in Kickstarter history.
With 29 days still left on the clock, The Official Cyberpunk Trading Card Game has already collected a massive investment of £7,322,706 from 11,820 backers. Additionally, the new TCG has crossed every single initial stretch goal with more added following fan support.
After its Kickstarter launch, the upcoming TCG project managed to hit its quite light Kickstarter goal of just £75,292/$100,000 in just five minutes. “Cyberpunk TCG has been funded in just 5 minutes,” WeirdCo wrote in a blog update. “Seeing the project reach its goal so quickly has been surreal.”
“All of us here at WeirdCo have spent a long time building up to this moment, from designing the cards to developing the gameplay systems, working with amazing artists, and preparing for this campaign launch. WeirdCo explained that it took “just under 3 hours” for the project to hit a massive $5 million investment from fans. With the huge success of the Kickstarter campaign so far, the company announced that there’s “plenty of scope for additional stretch goals to be added if the same momentum is maintained”.
At the time of writing, the highest-tier stretch goal is asking for a total of $11,500,000 from fans which certainly seems possible following the massive wave of support over the past few days. However, as with most Kickstarter campaigns, it is usually harder to continue momentum of investment as time goes on.
With that said, the Cyberpunk 2077 community is always hungry for more content, especially as fans have to wait so long until the game’s eventual sequel launches at some undetermined point in the future. At least a new season of Edgerunners is on the way!
