Grinding Gear Games has announced the release date for Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids, the next major expansion for the studio’s stunning Diablo-like ARPG.

Releasing on December 12, 2025, The Last of the Druids adds the titular Druid class to the game, a class that was not available in the original game. Launching with the game’s 0.4.0 update, the new class is, by far, the game’s most complex one yet.

The new class wields a new weapon type—the Talisman—which allows the character to call upon the power of Draiocht to shape shift into one of three animal forms. However, the Druid is also a powerful spellcaster that can create Spell Totems to automatically cast chosen spells mid-combat.

As a wolf, the Druid can channel lunar energy to rapidly attack, freeze enemies and summon wolf minions. If the player transforms into a bear, they can build up a powerful rage to continue crushing enemies with unrivalled attack strength. Finally, as a Wyvern, the Druid can fly above the battlefield, reigning fire from above.

Alongside the Druid class, the new Path of Exile 2 update also comes with the new Temple Crawl experience in Fate of the Vaal. In this new gameplay experience, players will craft a custom temple turn-by-turn in a psuedo roguelike experience. Each run, players will place rooms to get from one side of the temple to the other with more than a dozen room types to choose from.

“With each run, some chambers endure while others are consumed by ruin,” Grinding Gear Games explains. “Continued beacon clearing offers new rooms, greater complexity, and escalating reward potential. More than a dozen room types are available, each offering different unique enemies, mechanics, and reward pools.”

Fighting through the ruins gives players access to new bosses. Xipocado, devoted to Atziri, blocks the way to the game’s new Pinnacle Boss: Atziri herself. Beating this devoted guard will grant entry to additional crafting tools and open the way to the new boss. Beating Atziri’s corrupted form will give players Atziri’s Rule “ powerful new staff that elevates all corrupted gems and enables players to exchange life for increased damage output”.

Additionally, the new Path of Exile 2 update continues the focus on Abyssals as an endgame mechanic. However, abyssal crafting and instilling on waystones has been removed to reduce visual clutter, but modifiers on tablets have been substantially buffed. “Following the defeat of the Arbiter of Ash, players will also gain the ability to upgrade Tablets to Rare quality with four modifiers using standard currency,” GGG explains.

Finally, Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids also comes with 30 new support gems, 11 new Uniques, 9 new Lineage Supports (as well as 21 reworked ones), major balance adjustments, and over 250 new passive skills. GGG has also heavily improved performance with major optimisations providing more than 25% better framerates across the board.
