Beyond Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human developer Quantic Dream has reiterated that its long-awaited Star Wars Eclipse project is still in development.

Announced at The Game Awards in 2021, the cinematic narrative adventure has not been seen in any form since its reveal. However, the studio is adamant that development is progressing.

The new update came as Quantic Dreams announced the closure of its free-to-play game Spellcaster Chronicles, a 3v3 multiplayer mage game. Spellcaster Chronicles launched back in February to mixed reviews, and only reached a peak player count of 888 on Steam.

In a statement to fans, the studio announced that it is undergoing “an internal reorganisation”. While known for AAA narrative games, as FRVR understands, the company forged a multiplayer arm to deliver multiple multiplayer projects that would serve to fund additional investment into its marquee single-player titles.

Quantic Dream claimed that this change does not affect the ongoing development of its Star Wars game. “The development of Star Wars Eclipse is not affected by this decision and continues as planned,” the studio told fans.

Additionally, it’s not known if the studio’s other in-development multiplayer titles are affected. As the developer’s debut multiplayer game, Spellcaster Chronicles has been an abject failure, but with multiple projects in the works, some might survive.

As for Star Wars Eclipse, there is still little information surrounding the game. The game will be an evolution on the studio’s known narrative formula and it will be set in the era of The High Republic, but additional details are vague at best.

According to a prior report by Insider Gaming, development on the game is allegedly “very slow going”. The report claims that the title might still be a long way away. “The game, at this stage, is still looking to be years off from completion,” a source reportedly told the outlet back in December 2025.

That source reportedly told the outlet that the success of Spellcaster Chronicles would allow Quantic Dream to gain additional funding from publisher Netease. “Should Spellcasters fail commercially, NetEase is expected to reevaluate its commitment to the studio and could opt to discontinue further investment,” the source reportedly told the outlet.

Star Wars Eclipse currently has no release date. The game is expected to release on PlayStation 5 and PC.
