Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream has reiterated that its years in-development Star Wars Eclipse game is still being worked on.

Originally announced at The Game Awards back in December 2021, Quantic Dreamโ€™s High Republic era narrative adventure has been largely absent since its reveal. At the time of writing, the game still has no release date.

In a statement posted on the Qauntic Dream blog, CEO David Cage explained that the game is still being worked on at the French video game studio. However, the studio is also working on a multiplayer game that also has no release daate.

โ€œOf course, development of Star Wars: Eclipse continues, and we are eager to share more with you in the future,โ€ Cage told fans. Unfortunately, no new details were revealed about the project.

To support both projects, Cage explained that the studio has โ€œentered a new phase of growth and innovationโ€ with Quantic Dream doubling the size of the team, opening a new studio in Montreal and building a new generation of the studioโ€™s in-house engine to support their own games.

โ€œAfter years as a single-project studio, we also decided to take a new step,โ€ Cage told fans. โ€Multiple teams are fully dedicated to crafting the next generation of great games, including something very different, a competitive multiplayer experience, born from the same spirit of curiosity and creativity that has always defined us.โ€

Cage explained that the โ€œnew title may surprise our fans as it is very different from what weโ€™ve done so farโ€, but the studio wishes to explore new opportunities away from just its traditional cinematic story games.

Quantic Dream’s new multiplayer game is Spellcaster Chronicles, a 3v3 PvP where players will “summon hundreds of creatures, cast devastating spells, and call upon the might of Titans to rise as the most powerful member of the community of Spellcasters, and shape the fate of the world.” Fans can sign up for the game’s closed beta here.

While not much is known about Star Wars Eclipse at the time of writing, the new game will follow players across a completely original story with new characters. Players will be able to make game-changing choices as they play that will alter significant events throughout the story.

Star Wars Eclipse is planned as a multiplatform release for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
