Bethesda’s often-maligned Starfield is seemingly set to jump to PlayStation 5 in just a few months following a retail leak spotted by Polish games website PPL.
Likely launching alongside the 2.0 update, which was recently shown off to YouTubers such as Mr Matty Plays, the long-awaited PlayStation version of the game is allegedly only months away with an April release planned for the title.
PPL claims that its insider Graczdari, which correctly leaked information on the release date of Oblivion: Remastered physical copies and others (thanks, VGC) has claimed that the game will launch on PlayStation 5 on April 7 with both Standard and Premium editions of the game. (Will PS5 fans get a Chronomark Collector’s Edition as well?)
A PlayStation 5 port of Starfield has been expected for a while now, especially as Microsoft brings core franchises like Halo and Gears of War to Sony’s console. However, the port has reportedly been pushed back as Bethesda works on the game’s 2.0 update, which some have said also comes alongside a second expansion.
Previous reports have also claimed that a Nintendo Switch 2 port of Starfield is in the works, which could be revealed at a Nintendo Direct. There is a Partner Direct for the system today, which could show off that version of the game, but there have been few concrete leaks surrounding this version of the RPG.
At the time of writing, only a small crew at Bethesda Game Studios are working on Starfield still as the majority of staff has moved over to The Elder Scrolls 6. Bethesda has confirmed that the next Elder Scrolls game will not launch before Grand Theft Auto 6 later this year, likely pointing to a 2027 release at the absolute earliest.
Additionally, a remaster of Fallout 3 is in the works at Oblivion Remastered developer Virtuous Studios. A remaster of Fallout: New Vegas is also reportedly in some form of development, but details are more scarce on that particular project.
