Space Wolves are now the best-selling Warhammer 40,000 set of all time, confirms Games Workshop

Games Workshop’s Space Wolves Army Set has already cemented itself as the best selling Warhammer 40,000 set of all time. Over the course of the franchise’s nearly 40-year-long history, last year’s set has quickly become the most popular single set ever.

Confirmed in the tabletop company’s recent financial report, the same report where they announced a blanket ban on Generative AI, CEO Kevin Rountree revealed that the May 2025 Army Set is the best-selling box the company has ever released.

Spotted by IGN, Rountree explained that the set proved popular as it was “specifically designed for hobbyists who want ‘all the new miniatures’ in a release”. While the Space Wolves have always been popular, the 2025 refresh ran off the shelves at an unprecedented rate with the report revealing they “set a new record for army box sales”.

The boxed Army Set contained 28 miniatures consisting of 10 Blood Claws, 10 Grey Hunters, 3 Wolf Guard Headtakers, a Wolf Priest and a Wolf Guard Battle Leader. Additionally, the new sculpts were of such high quality that they were instantaneous replacements for older versions which can’t always be said for Warhammer 40,000 refreshes.

To this day, the Space Wolves Army Set is still frequently sold out across Warhammer stores and online retailers with some jumping to eBay to buy the set at a sizeable markup from the ever-present scalpers. (Hey, at least GW managed to find a way to beat scalpers for new book releases, right?)

As far as Warhammer 40,000 sets go, the 2025 Space Wolves Army Set was essentially a done deal for most players, even if they’re just going to be added to your Wall of Shame as they wait to be painted. There are few sets that have matched the sheer quality and value of this set, and it may be a while until we see that level of value again.
