Embark has finally released a fix for Arc Raiders’ broken cross-play. With the release of the new Arc Raiders 1.26.1 hotfix, players can now play with gamers on other systems without deleting their in-game settings.

Following the release of the game’s massive Riven Tides update, which added a lot of new content, Embark broke the game’s crossplay feature. While there was a workaround, players were no longer playing with other systems. This meant games took longer to find, and population pools were smaller than before.

With the release of Arc Raiders 1.26.1, a hotfix which is automatically installed on startup, crossplay is now fully functional again. “This fix solves the issue with crossplay that was introduced in the Riven Tides update,” Embark says in a recent announcement.

Alongside the crossplay fix, this new patch also fixes “more frequent causes for crashes” on all platforms. Since Riven Tides, players have reported increased crashes in the game. While some of these major crashes should no longer occur, players may still encounter crashes in game.

Additionally, the new Arc Raiders fix solves an issue with backpacks in the game. After the launch of the latest update, fans noticed that certain backpacks were missing their variant options. With this patch, players will now be able to access all versions of the backpack cosmetics once again.

This is just a minor patch for the game that is automatically installed as soon as you enter the extarction shooter. However, following the release of Riven Tides, Embark is still working on more substantial updates to the live-service multiplayer game.

While the game’s roadmap is currently completed, Embark has announced major changes are coming in the future. In a recent interview, design director Virgil Watkins confirmed the game’s skill tree will see a significant rework at some point.

“I don’t think, by any means, we, like, nailed it,” the design director said. “We’ve seen how players actually play the game because, of course, we operate by our own intent or even theory, but by how players actually engage with the game.”

Additionally, Embark is working on expanding the social aspects of the game. While unconfirmed right now, Embark CEO Patrick Soderland expressed a desire to make the game’s hub world of Speranza an interactive space where players can meet one another.

“I, personally, am touched by all the social elements to this game and the things that make me and, I think, everyone else, believe in humanity again,” Soderland explained. “There’s something very kind about that, in many aspects. Just as sometimes PvP can be exciting, frustrating, and thrilling, as well. Those are the aspects that we have to look into.”
