Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2 is, once again, in a rough state with major performance issues, glitches and more plaguing the otherwise-brilliant co-op shooter. Alongside issues such as the PC version’s massively inflated install size, Arrowhead is working on addressing a number of major issues in a series of huge updates.
Nevertheless, fans are still annoyed at the state of the game with players becoming irritated by the long wait while they still experience major framerate issues, constant crashes and other problems. In the past, players have review-bombed the game over major nerfs, technical issues and even decisions they simply didn’t like with one period even resulting in a hilarious “review-bomb cape”.
However, as some players vocally weight up review bombing the popular multiplayer game again on forums and in the official Helldivers 2 Discord server, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani has urged players to take their fingers off the trigger.
“Do we need another review bomb in order go [sic] fix the performance of the game?” one player asked in the official Discord. “It’s being worked on,” Jorjani responded within the exact minute of the question being asked.
At the time of writing, Hellidvers 2 players are constantly posting their greivances with the game including the game being “literally unplayable with the amount of DC [disconnects] and lag” in the current version of the game.
“Sorry for this,” Jorjani responded to that particular player. “Some players are having a lot of problems at the moment. There’s an update coming mid October with a bunch of fixes.”
Review bombing is a powerful tool for gamers on platforms such as Steam, especially during a promotional period like the ongoing Steam Autumn Sale. Negative reviews, especially a massive flux of negative recent reviews, push would-be players away from buying the game, and this can be a major blow to the continued success of a title.
Of course, often times, there are also nefarious reasons behind review bombing campaigns. As we previously mentioned, Helldivers 2 was review bombed as players failed to save a city during a major event earlier this year.
There’s currently no specific release date for the next major Helldivers 2 update. However, the update is scheduled to release sometime during the middle of this month.
