As one of the biggest free-to-play multiplayer games around, Marvel Rivals leaks are constant. For example, year’s major announcement of Deadpool—the game’s first multi-role hero—was discovered by leakers many months before his addition into the hero shooter. Additionally, there are a number of additional leaked heroes that have been found by dataminers.
For a live-service game, real leaks are par for the course, but there are also fake leaks that rear their heads from time-to-time, such as alleged leaked patch notes that are largely different from released updates.
Speaking to FRVR, Marvel Rivals prior to the release of Season 7.5, director Guangyun Chen explained that leaks are always “frustrating”, especially when an update has been in the works for a long time. As a huge addition to the game, as well as an important marketing push, Deadpool’s addition was spoiled after a year of internal development.
“While leaks are often a natural byproduct of a passionate community and modern live-service development, they can be frustrating for a team that has spent a year or more planning a ‘big reveal’”, the director said.
With that said, Chen explained that the team does not let the spread of a leak “distract” from continuing to create new content, especially when those leaks aren’t true. While many Marvel Rivals leaks have turned out to be based in fact, there are some that have been completely manufactured by online accounts. “Our team remains 100% focused on developing real content updates rather than chasing ghosts in the code,” Chen told us.
As Marvel Rivals continues to expand across 2026 and 2027, with Marvel claiming the game will see its biggest year ever, the team is also working on additional roadblocks for leakers. While the team admits that its impossible to stop all leaks for any game, they “will strive to optimise our technical capabilities to prevent more leaks from occurring”.
While a lot of content from Marvel Rivals does leak, largely the addition of new heroes, a lot of is does end up surprising. As the team continues working on brand-new modes, features, and more for 2026 and beyond, there will no doubt be a tonne of surprises ahead for fans to sink their teeth into, even if some get spoiled ahead of time.
