Following the successful launch of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater on PS5, Xbox Series and PC, Konami has officially announced a new remaster collection for fans of the series and newcomers alike. Confirmed alongside new details for the studio’s multiplayer spin-off mode Fox Hunt, Konami officially revealed the long-awaited Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2.

Announced during the company’s latest episode of the Metal Gear Solid Production Hotline series, the new remaster collection will eventually bring the remaining MGS games to modern platforms.

Speaking on stage, Metal Gear Solid producer Noriaki Okamura confirmed that a new Master Collection is currently in development at Konami. Unfortunately, the producer didn’t confirm which games will be included in the upcoming collection.

“Well, yes… it’s been dragged out for quite a while now. Since we called the first one ‘Vol. 1’, it’s only natural people would assume there’s a Vol. 2. And, well, that was something we said years ago,” Okamura said when asked about the existence of the new collection.

Additionally, Okamura didn’t announce a release date for the remaster collection, instead confirming that there will be another presentation at a later date to discuss additional details.

“As we’ve repeated many times, we are making it. We’ve been working on it properly while also producing Delta,” he continued. “At the right timing, we’d like to share with you all not only about its progress but also the direction going forward. I’m sorry, it feels like I always have to say this but please wait just a little longer. How long ‘a little longer’ actually means… well, it’s hard to say. But the project is moving forward properly, and we believe it’s shaping up to be something enjoyable. So please wait just a bit more.”

While Konami didn’t confirm which games will be included in Meal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, some of the included titles are pretty obvious.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the only mainline game in the series not currently playable on modern platforms. Still stuck on Sony’s PlayStation 3, this game will likely be the main event of the upcoming collection.

Additionally, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 will likely also include Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, a PSP game that was already remastered by Bluepoint in 2011.

For added value, Konami could also include the spin-off card games Metal Gear Acid and Metal Gear Acid 2, as well as Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus.
