Arc Raiders has been a huge success for Swedish developer Embark Studios. According to recent reports, the game has already made more than six times its budget back since launch with the game topping PlayStation downloads charts, dominating the Steam Christmas best-sellers, and grabbing over 12 million players.
In an interview with IGN, Embark Studios CEO Patrick Söderlund confirmed that the game’s reported $75 million budget is “not too far off” with the game’s massive revenue allowing the studio to “live for a long time” as it continues expanding its headcount as well as the future of both Arc Raiders and The Finals.
Söderlund explained that “you don’t have to be a math professor to realise that the game has done well of us and that we’re obviously incredible happy with the performance from a financial perspective”. The CEO noted that, in a time where many studios are closing, the huge launch success “means stability, long-time security” for the team.
“We can live for a long time on the money that Arc Raiders has been generating, and that does give financial security and employment stability for the people that work there,” Söderlund told the outlet. “We’re growing our studio, we’re hiring people, we want to build more of Arc Raiders, we want to build more of The Finals.”
Arc Raiders already has a huge year ahead of it with multiple new maps planned to launch throughout 2026. At the time of writing, Embark has only confirmed a few months of the game’s 2026 roadmap with more to be revealed after April. However, the team has already teased some major features for the future.
CEO Patrick Söderlund has teased some form of trading within the game to improve its social aspects. Additionally, a Destiny-style Tower Hub for the Speranza which would allow players to interact with each other without being Topside. Right now, everything is handled via menus, but players may be able to walk around the hub in the future.
Alongside continued support for Arc Raiders and The Finals, Söderlund confirmed that Embark has “two new games in development that we hope to finish someday”. The massive launch of the game also means that the studio “can have competitive salaries, [and] good bonuses for the people that have done all this hard work and deserve to be taken care of adequately.”
As the team have explained, this is just the start for Arc Raiders. Embark has already spent years supporting its free-to-play shooter The Finals with new weapons, maps, features, and much more, and we should expect the same for its paid extraction shooter.
