EA’s post-launch support for Battlefield 6 is far from over. While the developer coalition Battlefield Studios is currently suffering a wave of layoffs, design director Justin Wiebe has promised that support for the game isn’t ending anytime soon.

While Battlefield 6 producers have told fans that development of new maps will take time due to a lack of resources, Wiebe explained that there are plans to support Battlefield 6 “for a very long time”, and those plans have not been scrapped.

“We’re listening, and we’re reacting, and it’s going to continue that way for a very long time,” Wiebe told IGN as the studio continues to work on the game’s March 17th update.

The design director explained that the team is “constantly trying to strive to make the best game possible” based on community feedback, adding that they are taking the reactions of the community “very seriously” as support continues for the FPS game.

“Once we’ve launched the game, it’s in the community’s hands to give us feedback,” they continued. “It becomes our game now. All feedback is important, and we weigh the community feedback, but also, like I said, we look at the data of what’s actually going on in telemetry. Sometimes it can be a perception problem. Sometimes it’s actually like, no, both sources of information are saying, ‘This is a big problem, and therefore we need to stop the plans we were going to do and redirect and start focusing on the things that we’re seeing identified.’”

Wiebe also made sure to note that the roadmap of content can and will change where needed. It’s not like, ‘Hey, we crafted this massive plan, and we’re going to hold to it.’ It’s like, no. Anything can change based on what is going on with the community, what is going on with the feedback, and what we’re seeing from the game,” he said.

With that said, Battlefield 6 is still suffering from many of the issues it had at launch. The game’s atrocious menus have not been addressed since release, and vehicle balance changes are currently in testing with no release date.

While larger-scale maps are in development at the time of writing, the absence of the series’ scale is sorely missed in the current version of the game. Nevertheless, the game’s next map, Hagental Base, releases next week on March 17.
