EA’s Battlefield 6 has been a mostly fantastic launch, outside of the game’s broken “by design” custom search system. With a return to the modern military aesthetic and a focus on proper destruction again, Battlefield is back in a true return to form.

With the game hitting massive player counts across the board, Battlefield 6 has seen the biggest launch of any game in the series. While EA and Battlefield Studios have yet to release official figures, the game’s sales have been reported.

Shared by video game analysis firm Alinea Analytics, Battlefield 6 has already sold more than 6.5 million copies across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S and PC. Despite being the first game in the series to abandon the last gen consoles, sales haven’t been harmed by abandoning the older hardware.

Via the Alinea Insight newsletter on Substack, Battlefield 6 has already brought in over $350 million in revenue before the game launches its post-launch monetisation. However, it’s not known how much the game actually cost to develop.

According to the analytics firm, the majority of players for Battlefield 6 are on PC with 56.7% of the playerbase currently on Steam. While more than half of players are on PC, 23.7% of players are on PlayStation 5 with 19.6% of players on Xbox Series.

Battlefield 6 sales per platform also show that other PC services, such as Epic Games Store and the EA launcher, have failed ti make a dent in overall sales performance.

The analytics firm explains that Battlefield 6 has been a rare launch due to the fact that its Daily Active Users curve is “extraordinarily flat”. Even within a game’s launch window, the peak DAU is expected to fall, but “Steam DAUs have remained between 2.3 M and 2.5 M every single day since launch”.

There is also potential for Battlefield 6 to continue growing after launch depending on the success of its post-launch content. Unlike prior games in the series, BF6 is working to keep post-launch content coming in at a rapid pace with Season 1 set to start on October 28th with new weapons, maps and more.

It’s also worth noting that more than 55% of the BF6 player base on Steam have also played Battlefield 2042, the series’ least popular modern entry. While the game was a huge disappointment to the core fanbase, it hasn’t considerably harmed the series’ reputation with the release of this new, much, much better entry.
