Can’t decide whether to play Baldur’s Gate 3 or Helldivers 2? Well, you’re in luck, thanks to a new mod that brings both of the beloved games together in a mash-up we never thought we’d need. The brand new Helldiver mod, available now on Nexus Mods, brings a new Helldiver class and subclasses to Larian’s masterpiece, complete with new spells, perks and passives.

“Inspired by the game Helldivers 2, this class and its subclasses have been curated to bring the fantastic playstyles of the Helldivers into the world of Baldurs Gate 3,” wrote is creator, LoneRainger. “l Including a whopping 37 new spells, many additional class perks and passives, and 3 new resources to tie them together, this class lets you truly bring Managed Democracy against the Absolute.”

As your character progresses, your subclass will unlock different Stratagems, including fan-favourites such as the Orbital Laser, Eagle 500KG Bomb and Cluster Strikes.

While LoneRainger, “tried to be as faithful to Helldivers 2 as possible”, he explained that some specifics needed to be sacrificed in order for the mod to work within the Baldur’s Gate 3 framework. “Stratagems do not have call-in times and are (mostly) instant,” he explained. “Sentries must be fired manually, and things that would typically auto-target in Helldivers (such as the Orbital laser) must manually have this done instead. Limitations to the models and VFX mean that the Weaponry, Sentries, and special effects all use things available in the base game.  In that, I apologize.  However, I still believe this mod will be fun to play with, and I sincerely hope everyone enjoys!”

More mods than ever coming to Baldur’s Gate 3

Despite releasing nearly three years ago, the Baldur’s Gate 3 modding community is more active than ever. Along with minor tweaks and updates, larger projects, including custom campaigns, are currently in the works. One such project, Path to Menzoberranzan, will take players back to Baldur’s Gate 2’s Athkatla in a brand-new game-sized story with its own cast of companions. A playable Alpha will launch later this year, after the team confirmed to FRVR that they have scaled down operations to avoid scope creep.

“The thing about the project is we identified its scale already,” project lead Gregory ‘Lotrich’ Barak told us. “We know how it should end, we know when it will end, and we are not planning to always say, ‘Hey, let’s do this and that, let’s do this, let’s add this. We have one specific goal, and we go towards it, and until we reach this specific goal, we’re not gonna add something more to it.”
