Ever wanted your own set of Withers’ jugs for your table water or flowers? Well, you could well be in luck. A load of Baldur’s Gate 3 inspired ‘homeware and decor’ may soon be coming to a merchant near you courtesy of a new deal between Hasbro and Fanattik.
It’s already been a fantastic week for Baldur’s Gate 3 fans – with Neil Newbon reprising his much-loved Astarion role to narrate T. Kingfisher’s upcoming book—Baldur’s Gate 3: Astarion. Now, a new, expanded agreement between Hasbro and Fanattik will see a new surge of BG3-themed merchandise come to store shelves.
The unique partnership allows Fanattik to create merch based on the much-loved title. As per an official press release, the expanded deal “introduces new product categories like gifts, homewares, home décor and collectibles”. So, who knows, you may be able snap up your very own Astarion wallpaper or Gale-inspired bedding?
“The extended partnership covers IP like D&D, Magic: The Gathering and Transformers, as well as now also spanning Power Rangers and Baldur’s Gate 3,” the press release reads. “The agreement also introduces new product categories like gifts, homewares, home décor and collectibles, and also opens up the Japanese market for several titles.
“We already supply pop culture retailers in Europe, Australasia, MENA and North America – Japan is a market we wanted to focus on with titles such as MAGIC: THE GATHERING, which is very popular in this market,” said Anthony Marks, CEO at Fanattik. “This deal ticks all the boxes.”
Melissa Tudor, Creative Director at Fanattik, added: “It is important for my team to immerse themselves in each of the titles we work on to make sure the ranges hit home with the fans.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 merch in general has been mixed at best. Miniatures company WizKids had to formally apologise after releasing their horrible pre-painted minis. Anyone who purchased the minis, which looked like they were painted by toddlers, were eligible for a full refund while also keeping the figures.
“Unfortunately, we missed the mark on this goal with the D&D Icons of the Realms: Baldur’s Gate 3 Character Boxed Set,” the company said in a statement last year. “If you purchased this set through our online stores, we will be offering a full refund to those who are unsatisfied with their set.”
With no official Baldur’s Gate 4 in development, Hasbro is attempting to extend the life of the IP following its explosion in popularity. Alongside additional merchandise, the company has also greenlit a HBO sequel series without the assistance of Larian Studios. While years away, fans have not taken kindly to the show’s existence.
