With Fortnite Chapter 7 – Season 2 delayed for mid-March, we finally received some details about it. These details come from Ted Timmins, the game’s design director. Timmins played the upcoming season early, sharing insights on his X profile.

It appears that Epic Games has prepared several major changes to release with Season 2, from XP updates to a refreshed loot pool. Before we get into details, it’s important to add that the next Fortnite season was delayed, as it was originally scheduled to come out on March 5.

The next Fortnite season will be leaps ahead of the current one

Fortnite’s senior designer revealed that the development team has significantly improved mid-game pacing for the upcoming season. According to his reply to one user, Season 2 is “leaps ahead” of Season 1, as it brings improvements and optimizations.

The Fortnite developer will drastically change the loot pool as well. According to Timmins, it’s almost entirely refreshed, featuring several new mobility items and a few humorous items that made the developer laugh out loud. While not confirmed, players are speculating about the Inflate-A-Bull or Shockwave Hammer.

Timmins has also revealed that Epic will release some experimental XP updates and numerous quality-of-life improvements.

Interestingly, the senior designer revealed that the surfing mechanic was accepted well by the community. However, there is a chance that Epic will change it in the future, though not necessarily in Season 2.

Timmins has been mysterious about some things, including the theme of the next season. However, with Season 2 being less than a month away, we will likely get more details about it soon. Rumors suggest a Norse mythology theme, so we may finally see Kratos, one of the rarest skins in Fortnite, return to the game.

Before the new season comes out, don’t forget to use some of the best Fortnite XP maps to level up quickly and complete the current pass. You can also unlock a couple of free skins in Fortnite before the launch of the season.
