Fortnite players report stolen V-Bucks amid security scare

Fortnite V-Bucks scam

,

Over the past few days, many Fortnite players have claimed that their V-Bucks mysteriously disappeared. In multiple cases, these losses were linked to unauthorized in-island purchases, leaving users confused. Epic Games took these reports seriously and is investigating the issue.

V-Bucks are Fortnite’s premium currency, used to purchase cosmetics, Battle Passes, and certain in-game items. The only way to get decent amounts of the currency is to buy it straight from the game, and even the cheapest pack costs nearly $10. Due to this, some users have lost hundreds of dollars worth of V-Bucks.

Fortnite players lost V-Bucks because of Telegram and Discord bots

Epic has previously warned against granting Fortnite account access to unofficial third-party services or sharing login credentials. If an account is accessed elsewhere, it can potentially be used to make purchases without the original owner realizing until after the V-Bucks are gone. Unfortunately, this is exactly what happened.

The game developer confirmed that the security breach was caused by third-party bots on Discord and Telegram. Epic also clarified that these bots were not official as they were not made by the company. Recently, these bots have been making unauthorized purchases, mostly on in-game islands.

For now, Epic says it is looking into the situation and will hopefully solve it soon. In the meantime, players are being urged to review their account security settings and monitor their V-Bucks balances closely. The quickest way of securing the account is by signing out of all devices and logged-in sessions.
