Fortnite players may have just gotten their biggest clue yet about what Epic Games has planned for the season-ending live event. While the developer has been teasing chaos ahead of the finale, a new detail suggests the event could dramatically alter the island itself.
The latest speculation comes after the most recent teaser. The teaser shows two massive landmasses separated by a chasm, suggesting that the map will undergo major changes during the Shattered event. While Epic Games has not confirmed this, the detail immediately caught the attention of players trying to piece together what will happen next.
A major map change could be coming to Fortnite
While the teaser is not a confirmation, Fortnite cinematics often foreshadow upcoming in-game events. Players have seen similar hints in the past, where dramatic visuals preceded major map changes or story developments. The current teaser implies that Epic is building up to a moment that could redefine the island for the next season.

The upcoming Fortnite event will feature a fight between the Ice King and the Foundation. Considering how powerful both sides are, splitting the island in two would make a lot of sense in the aftermath. Furthermore, it appears that players will see different versions of the event, based on the side they picked.
If the teaser is accurate, this event could become one of Fortnite’s most memorable map changes in years. To sweeten the deal, Epic is also offering a free Sidekick for Fortnite players who attend the event in a party. In addition to this, all players who watch the event live will receive a new pickaxe, regardless of whether they are in a party or not.

It’s important to note that the upcoming event will start later than usual. Epic generally releases events at 2 PM Eastern Time, but Shattered will take place five hours later.
With the live event approaching, players are advised to prepare for chaos and explore the island fully before it transforms. Meanwhile, it’s also a good opportunity to grab free Fortnite skins and use the best XP maps to level up before the event kicks off.
