Epic Games has filed a lawsuit against a prominent Fortnite leaker who previously shared major information about the game. The lawsuit claims that the leaker shared internal details about future content, including future collaborations, while being bound by a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). In other words, the leaker allegedly worked with Epic while leaking confidential information.

The lawsuit was filed on Thursday, March 5, and names Hayden Cohen as the defendant. Cohen is better known as AdiraFN and AdiraFNInfo in the Fortnite community, as he frequently posted on X and Discord. The leaker has deactivated his accounts over the past few days, although his leaks have already spread all over the internet.

Why did Epic Games sue a Fortnite leaker?

In general, Epic Games has no issues with Fortnite leakers. Several leakers, such as Hypex and Shiina, have gained millions of followers because of their work. However, what makes AdiraFN different is that he was a contractor for Epic. Hypex and Shiina mostly datamine information about the game or share information from their sources. AdiraFN, on the other hand, was allegedly the original source of the information.

“The leaked information could not have been obtained through any legitimate means and was not otherwise available to the public,” the lawsuit states. According to Epic, Hayden knowingly abused his access to sensitive information for personal gain.

Some of the upcoming collaborations that AdiraFN allegedly leaked include Game of Thrones, Kingdom Hearts, and Overwatch. Considering that Hayden was an Associate Producer who worked on various projects, these leaks are likely accurate, and the collaborations should come out at some point.

In the lawsuit, Epic argues the leaks caused significant damage to the company and its partners, even jeopardizing future partnerships. Furthermore, Cohen’s actions negatively impacted the engagement of players in both Fortnite and the properties that were included in the details.

“Epic has suffered actual loss and damages, including but not limited to harm to its partner relationships, diminished player engagement, lost profits, and costs incurred in investigating and responding to Defendantโ€™s unauthorized disclosures,” the lawsuit states.

Epic Games is seeking damages and other legal remedies in the lawsuit, though the case could take months or even years to resolve depending on how it proceeds in court. For now, the case highlights how seriously Epic takes leaks that originate from inside the company.

In the meantime, players can still grab a few free Fortnite skins or jump into some of the best XP maps to level up quickly and unlock additional cosmetics.
