Epic Games has released a lot of new content in Fortnite over the past two months. We got a new chapter, another Winterfest event, many new skins and collaborations, and other great things. The game developer is currently on a winter break, but as soon as the break ends, we will get another Fortnite update.

While Epic hasn’t revealed much about the upcoming content, a new leak shows us one of the new weapons that will be released. This weapon will require no aiming, which will be quite controversial. It will arguably be the best weapon in Fortnite, and its release might be just around the corner.

Fortnite will add the Lock-On Assault Rifle

Back in Chapter 4, Epic released the Lock-On Pistol, a short-range weapon that required no aim. You simply need to lock it on the target, and it would release a couple of bullets with 100% accuracy. The pistol was great for taking down targets that would be usually hard to hit, such as gliding players or those running away.

The biggest disadvantage of the pistol was its range. However, that should be no problem with the Lock-On Assault Rifle, which is set to arrive soon. The new assault rifle was leaked by Blortzen, and it may arrive in the second week of 2026.

The next Fortnite update is set for January 9, and the weapon may be released with it.

Unlike pistols, assault rifles have bigger ranges and are capable of hitting targets that are well beyond 100 meters. On top of this, most rifles in the game are automatic, which is why this weapon has the potential to wreak havoc in the game.
