Fortnite players who missed out on the Chapter 5 Season 4 Battle Pass will soon get another chance to unlock some of its biggest Marvel cosmetics. Epic Games has announced Unvaulted, a new Item Shop return system that will bring back select older Battle Pass outfits as separate bundles starting this weekend.
The first wave will focus on some of the Marvel outfits from Chapter 5 Season 4, also known as Absolute Doom. This is a major change for Fortnite, as Battle Pass cosmetics were once treated as exclusive rewards that could not return after a season ended.
Older Fortnite Battle Pass skins are finally coming back
Epic Games changed the Battle Pass exclusivity policy in August 2024, shortly before releasing some of the most amazing Marvel skins. Now, Battle Pass items may appear in the Shop at least 18 months after the pass expires. The rule applies not only to skins, but also to back blings, pickaxes, emotes, wraps, and other cosmetics, although Epic also clarified that not every item is guaranteed to return.
Chapter 5 Season 4 featured one of the strongest Battle Pass lineups in recent Fortnite history. The Marvel-themed pass included Gwenpool, War Machine, Peelverine, Emma Frost, Captain Jones, Mysterio, Shuri, and Doctor Doom.
Based on the Unvaulted trailer, Gwenpool, War Machine, Peelverine, Captain Jones, and Mysterio appear to be among the first outfits coming back to the Item Shop. These will be sold as separate bundles, which means players will not need to buy everything from the original Battle Pass at once.
It is important to note that Epic has not confirmed whether every Chapter 5 Season 4 outfit will return on June 28. Emma Frost, Shuri, and Doctor Doom were also part of the original Battle Pass, but were not shown in the trailer. However, the game developer may be saving them for the second wave of the Unvaulted Item Shop.
The return of older Battle Pass skins is also a big deal for future seasons. Since Chapter 5 Season 4 was the first Battle Pass covered by Epic’s new policy, more recent Battle Pass cosmetics could also return once they become eligible. Since the Chapter 2 Remix Battle Pass expired in November 2024, its cosmetics will soon be eligible for return as well.
While waiting for the June 28 shop, players can unlock a couple of free skins in Fortnite, as well as a free Hyundai Ioniq 6 car. Players can also level up quickly using our updated list of the best XP maps in Fortnite.
