Epic Games is reportedly considering removing audio visualization from Fortnite. This accessibility feature has been a lifesaver for deaf players, but it may soon be vaulted. While initially intended to be used for accessibility, many players have begun using the option to visualize sound effects, which might be the reason why the developer is considering removing it.

Fortunately, the useful feature won’t be removed from all game modes. Its removal would make Fortnite much harder to play and would further increase the gap between top players and the rest. Some players believe that the removal would be good, but the majority of the community would like to keep using audio visualization.

Fortnite may soon remove audio visualization

Clix, one of the most popular Fortnite streamers, recently shared surprising news. The streamer claims that Epic is planning to remove visual audio from Fortnite, which would drastically change the game.

“They [Epic] are planning to take off visual audio permanently from comp,” Clix said on his stream. “When they do that, this game is going to be a really hard game.” The streamer also shared his opinion about the potential change, claiming that the “whole game is literally footsteps,” but he understands that players have been abusing the feature.

Back in Fortnite Chapter 1, players who enabled visual audio did not have sound output. However, later on, Epic changed it so that players can both hear footsteps and see them on the screen. This has become one of the most popular features, so removing it would make players much worse, as many of them rely on it.

Fortunately, it appears that the audio visualization would only be removed from competitive modes in Fortnite. Regular modes, such as non-ranked Battle Royale and Zero Build, should stay untouched.

Interestingly, Epic released a new Arenas Boxfight mode on Thursday, April 9, removing the visualization feature from it. This is another competitive mode, which might be the reason why. However, there is a chance that this is simply a bug, as implied by the Fortnite Status account.

In the meantime, players can unlock a couple of free skins in Fortnite in only a few minutes. On top of this, Fortnite XP maps offer a great way to level up quickly and unlock more cosmetics and V-Bucks.
